Brian Blechen - Utah

Few players in Ventura County have contributed over the last two seasons as much as Brian Blechen.  While splitting time at Quarterback with Brody Rohach, Blechen also shined as a LB and punter.  On the defensive side of the ball, he was chosen 1st team all county, 1st team all Northern Division as a linebacker.  Blechen will play for Kyle Whittingham and Utah in 2010.

 

Dylan Davis - New Mexico State

After missing much of the season with injury, Davis returned to lead the Seraphs in their semifinal battle with Westlake.  A punishing tackler and outspoken leader, Davis will play next season at New Mexico State.

 

 

AJ DeTorre - Dartmouth

AJ De Torre was a key contributor on both of Moorpark’s CIF Northern Division runner-up teams the last two seasons.  The two-way player will head to the Ivy League and Dartmouth.

 

 

Giovanni DiPaolo - USC

The departure of Pete Carroll from USC made the last few weeks very difficult for 1st team all-state OL Giovani DiPaolo. Gio anchored a Seraph line which broke open holes for Darrell Scott, Patrick Hall and Devon Blackledge en route to back-to-back State Championships. But the County’s Top OL, as selected by Home Field Sports, decided to stay with his initial choice to play football at USC.

 

 

Austin Edmonson - UC Davis

According to Moorpark Head Coach Tim Lins, Austin Edmonson is the #2 RB in Moorpark history as far as yards, but, “First in our hearts.”  The undersized senior played with a considerable amount of power and heart and will take his game to UC Davis next year

 

 

Joe Frank - Air Force Academy

The all-county selection anchored arguably the top O-Line in the county over the past few seasons and will lead the Air Force Academy’s option attack at the offensive line position.

 

 

Alani Fua - BYU

Perhaps the most dominant defensive player in Oaks Christian history, Fua led a remarkable Lions defense that was only exposed in the final game of the 2009 season against Gardena Serra.  Fua will play next season for Bronco Mendenhall at BYU.

 

 

Troy Hill - Oregon

St. Bonaventure DB Troy Hill epitomizes the phrase “shutdown corner.”  Hill went heads up with some of Southern California’s top WRs and often came out on top.  Troy Hill will join a young secondary at Oregon and expects to vie for playing time immediately.

 

 

Kane Hobbs - Weber State

A dominant lineman on both sides of the ball, Kane Hobbs will play in 2010 for the Weber State Wildcats.  Hobbs anchored an offensive and defensive line that propelled a dominant Buena defense and solid offensive rushing attack.

 

 

Malcolm Jones - UCLA

The Gatorade National Player of the Year will ply his trade at UCLA in 2010, as he looks to revitalize the UCLA running game.  Jones had an exceptional senior season, running for 2,477 yards and 40 TDs as Oaks fell just short of a Northwest Division title.

 

 

Erik Kohler - Washington

Kohler, an all-state selection, will join Oaks Christian teammate Nick Montana at Washington.

 

 

Cassius Marsh - UCLA

The versatile lineman was a cornerstone to Oaks Christian’s recent run of championships.  Marsh is anticipating the opportunity to grasp immediate playing time under Rick Neuheisel at UCLA.  Marsh joins teammate Malcolm Jones in Westwood.

 

 

Jeff Mathews - Cornell

The all-CIF selection and Southern Section single game passing yardage record-holder will take his game to the Ivy League to play for Cornell.  Mathews led Camarillo to a 10-2 season and Pacific View League title, breaking countless school passing and scoring records along the way.  Click to listen to Jeff's Signing Day discussion with Home Field Sports.

 

 

Nick Montana - Washington

The Oaks Christian signal caller may not be leaving with another section title, but he brings a strong quarterbacking pedigree and solid final two years at Oaks to Washington.  Montana is looking forward to working with QB guru and Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian.

 

 

Jamaal Perkins - Northern Arizona

Perkins finished 4th all-time on the Rio Mesa career rushing list and set a single game school record with 327 yards rushing.  Perkins will play in Flagstaff next season at Northern Arizona.

 

 

Tyler Perry - Oregon State

A four-year varsity letterman at Buena, Perry was a crucial cog in Buena’s return to prominence in 2009.  Perry’s role offensively and defensively helped propel the Bulldogs to their first win over rival Ventura in 7 years and a second place finish in the Channel League.  Perry will play for Mike Riley and the Oregon State Beavers next season. Cameron Roberson - Notre Dame

The standout Panther running back is headed to South Bend to play for one of the nation’s most storied programs.  Despite the change in coaching staffs at Notre Dame, Roberson held his commitment and elected to play for new head coach Brian Kelly and the Fighting Irish.  Roberson led the Panthers to a CIF Quarterfinal berth.

 

 

Brody Rohach - San Diego

Rohach split time at the QB position with Brian Blechen, and led the Musketeers to back-to-back CIF Title game appearances.  Rohach will play next season at the University of San Diego.

 

 

Tiai Salanoa - Montana State

The dominant Yellow Jacket pass catcher will take his game to the Big Sky conference where he will play for the Montana State Bobcats.  Despite catching only 30 passes in his senior season, Salanoa received a scholarship offer from Montana State.  Ti is also a star for the Yellow Jackets basketball team. Zac Stout - BYU

An all-CIF and all-County selection at Linebacker, Zac Stout led the Lions defense throughout the 2009 season.  Stout will join fellow defensive Oaks Christian stalwart Fua at Brigham Young University.
